Engravings on Aqueduct 11 NN 470-989

On the ledge below the cast iron sections of the North East faces of the Aqueduct

are to be found a number of Engravings commemorating ships sunk in WW1, some local(?)

Buildings and Various Masonic Carvings. These engravings are attributed to Glasgow

Corporation Water Works Employee Dan MacColl whose name is engraved on the wall of the

"Bell House" now Duchray Cottage. There is also one concerning a D McFarlane.

The Good hope and Monmouth engraving is on the face wall on the North Side
The Admiral Sturdee (Battle of the Falklands) is on the face wall of the South Side.
Unfortunately many of these engravings are now covered by security grills erected 2022.
